Call for entries for the 2011 “Spirit of Kyneton & District”
Photography Prize
and
Exhibition of Photographs at GALLERY 40, 40 Mollison St, Kyneton.

The three winning entries will each receive a prize of $200 with a $100 prize for the most popular work by public votes. In 2011 at least one of the prizes will be awarded to an entry which reflects the Heritage festival theme in the Spirit of Kyneton and district. The other prize or prizes may be awarded to a more general portrayal of “Spirit of Kyneton & District” involving people or landscapes or other relevant themes - at the discretion of the judges. The works will be judged prior to the opening day by professional artists and photographers. The Exhibition will officially open on Saturday, 3rd September, the first Saturday of the Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival, and remain till Sunday, 11th September then Sat, Sun 18th Sept. Exhibitors take responsibility for gaining appropriate permission of people appearing in their entries.
The winners of the prizes will be announced at the official opening of the “Spirit of Kyneton & District” Photography Exhibition to be held on Saturday, 4th September between 4pm and 6pm at GALLERY 40.
All or selected works will be exhibited during the Festival for the exhibition period at GALLERY 40.
Displayed works to be collected at the closure of the exhibition - from 10am till 4pm on Sunday, 18th September unless by prior arrangement.
There are no entry fees. 25% commission to GALLERY 40 on all sales.
IMPORTANT DATES
FRIDAY, SATURDAY 26, 27 AUGUST: Works must arrive at Gallery 40 between 10am and 6pm and be signed in.
SATURDAY, 3rd September: 4pm – 6pm. Exhibition Opening - announcement of winners.
SUNDAY, 18 September: 11.00pm to 4.00pm. Collecting work from the exhibition.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
- Open to Australian photographers 18 years and older.
- Work to be shot in Kyneton and district and contain recognisable Kyneton and district features or people.
- Work to be original and not previously reproduced or have won a prize(s) in exhibitions.
- Exhibitors take responsibility for gaining appropriate permission of people appearing in their entries.
- Maximum 3 entries per person. Entries can include analogue and digital photography.
- Maximum size is approx A2 incl frame. (42cm X 60cm or 2500 sq cm). Any bigger or irregular sized artwork to be negotiated with GALLERY 40 at time of putting in entry form. Usually works above this size will not be exhibited for the prize.
- Works should be mounted. Framing is preferred but not essential.
- All work must be ready for installation: hung frames using secure wire/string or hung mounts using secure wire/string are preferable. Other means of hanging must be appropriate. No adhesives (such as double sided tape or Velcro) can be used.
- Gallery 40 retains the right to reject works for display, if offensive, too fragile, dangerous or unsuitable for hanging.
- Works must arrive at Gallery 40 between 11am and 4pm on Friday, 26th or Saturday, 27th and be signed in. Earlier arrival or delivery by arrangement only.
- Entries must arrive clearly identified with artist’s name, telephone no. and the name of work on the back.
- Any damage or loss of any exhibit, howsoever and wherever occurring, and whilst in transit, in storage, on display or otherwise shall be the sole responsibility of the exhibitor.
- Neither GALLERY 40 nor Kyneton Daffodil and Art Festival Inc will cover costs for delivery or collection or return of artwork.
