Festival
Opening Thu 4th Sept & Daffodil Art Prize
The Daffodil Art Prize will be awarded and entries exhibited at the Opening of the Festival at Mollisons Kyneton, 116 Mollison Street. Sample local wines and produce from Coliban Bridge Taste of Gold and enjoy cheese from Ashby’s Larder. Festival information available from this venue daily to Sun 7th Sept. Exhibition then at Gallery on Piper, 14 Piper St to Sun 14th Sept. Rotary Youth Art Awards Fri 5th Sept then daily to 7th Sept celebrates the creative expression of young people. Enjoy viewing sculptures, paintings, prints, photographs, textiles, films and multi media pieces at Sacred Heart College, High Street. ‘Circus Magic’ Kyneton Primary School Tues 2nd & Wed 3rd Sept Biennial Pre Festival Concerts at Kyneton Town Hall 7.30pm. Daffodil & Arts Festival Race Day Tues 2nd Sept Kyneton District Racing Club presents a traditional day of Country Racing at Kyneton. Plan a day at the races with friends and enjoy scenic views of the Campaspe River, beautifully manicured gardens and an undercover area. Lunch in the Campaspe Bistro from 12 noon. Meeting features the Annual Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Handicap. Gates open 11 am. Youth One Act Plays Fri 5th Sept A special feature of the Kyneton One Act Plays Festival, at the Bluestone Theatre, Hutton St. Enquiries Alan Stone 5422 1807. Kyneton Antique Fair Fri 5th,Sat 6th & Sun 7th Sept The Kyneton Town Hall will be filled to capacity with stalls for this the 12th Fair held during the Festival. All of the well known dealers will be there, with collections ranging from fine china, jewellery, silverware and artwork to smaller pieces of furniture. You may even find some ‘Karnivale’ glass. Light lunches and snacks by Kyneton District Tennis Club. Book Fair Sat 6th & Sun 7th Sept The Zonta Club of Kyneton invites you to come to again browse through a collection of old and near new books in the Town Hall Gallery. Entry to the Book Fair is included in your Antique Fair Ticket. Men’s Breakfast Sat 6th Sept This famous breakfast at the Baptist Church, Ebden Street at 7.15am will feature an inspiring Guest Speaker. Men from all denominations are invited. Car Boot Sale Malmsbury Sat 6th Sept. Malmsbury Primary School will hold a car boot sale on Sat 6th Sept. Includes gourmet BBQ, cake stall and lucky dips for the kids. 10am till 3pm.
Ferret Racing

Ferret racing will take place again at the Mechanics Institute Reserve on Sat morning 10.30am, final 1pm. Victorian Ferret Association will again have entries. Shopping Sidewalk Sale with Buskers Sat 6th Sept Organised by KDBATA - Visit the three main shopping streets to enjoy the Sidewalk Sale “Special Offers”, listen to the buskers ($200 competition) take in daffodil and window displays, and enjoy food and coffee. Be part of this year’s Kyneton Karnivale. Exhibition of Historic Murals Sat Sept 6th See National Heritage Registered historic murals by Tom Levick at Zetland Masonic Lodge. Presented by the Artistic Friends of the River and curated by local sculptor Fiona Orr. Poetry at Aesop’s Attic Sat 6th & Sat 13th Sept Cherry Tennant, Castlemaine poet, will give poetry readings and sign her latest books at Aesop’s Attic Bookshop, 24a High St, 2.30pm and 4pm. Kyneton Spring Flower Show Sat 6th & Sun 7th Sept A traditional and integral event of the Festival, the Annual Show at the Watts Pavilion features the beauty and amazing variety of daffodils. Presentations of cut flowers, floral art, pot plants and children’s section. Kyneton Art & Craft Show 12th, 13th & 14th Sept The Kyneton Art Group, begun in 1977, exhibit and sell the work of local artists and craftspeople at this Annual Art & Craft Show at Kyneton Town Hall. Wares on sale are the very best that the central province has to offer. The Kyneton Band will play. Craft Market & Café Sat 13th & Sun 14th Sept The Central Highlands Group of the CWA will be holding a Craft Market at the Masonic Hall in Yaldwyn Street West. Light lunches and afternoon tea available at a small cost. Admission free 10 am to 4 pm both days. Daffodil Fun Run Sun14th Sept Kyneton District Health Service and Eclipse Family Fitness Daffodil Fun Run 5 and 10 km run or walk – start and finish at the Hospital. Prizes for both individual and teams with show bag for all competitors filled by sponsors. Proceeds towards Kyneton District Health Service. Starts at 9:00AM Green & Gold Cycle Challenge Sun 14th Sept Macedon Ranges Cycling Club Green & Gold Challenge, AUDAX 50/100km, through Pipers Creek, Sidonia and Pastoria. Starting Kyneton Velodrome (near swimming pool) at 9am sharp. $10 entry. Ride at your own pace, it’s not a race! BBQ to follow. Victorian Highland Dancing Comp Sun 14th Sept Sit in on the Victorian Highland Dancing Bendigo competition at Kyneton Town Hall from 12.30pm.
Festival Grand
Parade 12.30pm Sun 14th Sept Come to the Kyneton Karnivale. Parade starting from Kyneton Showgrounds Mollison St proceeding along Mollison Street, to High Street finishing at the intersection of Simpson Street. See spectacular costumes, floats, decorated bikes bands galore and dancers. A cavalcade of classic cars, utes and special novelties. Follow the Parade and join the Karnivale in the High Street and Family Fair in the Mechanics precinct. Parade winners will be announced at 2.15pm. Victorian MG Club display Sun 14th Sept Display of MGs from the Victorian Club after the Parade at Kyneton Primary School, next to Library. Donations to Cancer Council of Victoria. Skate Park Competition 2.30pm Sun 14th Sept Skate boarding competition for young people. Conducted by the Shire of Macedon Ranges Youth Unit – come to the Skate Park in Beauchamp Street to sign in. |
